At Cleary Gull, our historical strength is in picking specific investment vehicles to meet your unique financial objectives. We search the world for investment managers who can deliver repeatable, reliable results. We will choose both independent money managers, who purchase individual stocks on your behalf, and mutual funds that can deliver cost-efficient results. Our expertise is in pairing these managers together to maximize your portfolio returns and minimize your risk based on your goals.

Because we choose investment vehicles for a wide variety of clients, including pension plans, endowment funds and other wealthy individuals, we have our own in-house research program.  Our team consists of:

• Investment Policy Committee -- sets overall policy as it relates to broad asset allocation ranges/guidelines among asset classes and is responsible for risk management, oversight of implementation and adherence to policies.
• Fixed Income and Equity Strategy Groups -- develop and agree upon tactical moves responding to changing market circumstances and opportunities and recommend policies regarding allocation/diversification.
• Research -- supports all of the strategy groups by providing on-going due diligence on managers and the funds and strategies they manage, evaluates suitability and usability within the firms.  

We also draw on our broad and deep industry experience to judge non-performance issues, such as:

• Overall experience level of the fund or manager's staff 
  
• Educational qualifications
• Management turnover and integrity

Our team uses a number of highly recognized analysis tools and databanks such as Lipper, Inc., Morningstar and Russell Mellon to support our research, which is both quantitative as well as qualitative.

In today’s environment, knowing where your money is invested is paramount to peace of mind. We believe in transparency with the funds and managers we work with and take our fiduciary responsibility as your investment advisor with great care. We conduct complete due diligence that at a minimal includes:

• Manager on-site visits
• Regular phone calls
• Review of ADV, Prospectus, Statement of Additional Information and SEC filings

Most importantly, we monitor fund and manager performance on a daily basis to ensure that your investments are delivering the results you expect.
